Syfy Cancels ‘Dark Matter’: ‘Incredibly Disappointed’ EP Says ‘You All Deserved Better’

“Dark Matter” has gone dark after three seasons. Season 3 ended last week, and it turns out that was also the series finale, leaving fans with a lot of dark messages for Syfy.

The Syfy series followed six people who wake with amnesia aboard a starship and try to figure out who they are and what happened to them. It was based on the comic book co-created by “Stargate” team Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, who also executive produced the show.

Mallozzi confirmed the show’s cancellation in a blog post that definitely hinted to him having more to say on the matter. Later.

Here’s what he wrote today:

September 1, 2017: Dark Matter Cancelled

It is with great sadness that I confirm the news. Syfy has cancelled Dark Matter after three seasons.

To say that I’m incredibly disappointed would be an understatement.

I’ll save my comments and field your questions in a future blog entry. For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans.

You all deserved better.

Fans are just as unhappy, sharing their own disappointment on Twitter. Sounds like Mallozzi may dig into the details on his blog at a later date. For now, fans definitely agree that they deserved better.
